Guests staying in Akumal or Santamar by TAO: We recommend stopping at Chedraui Puerto Aventuras, about 10 minutes north of Akumal. It's one of the area's largest supermarkets and has everything you'll need, including groceries, fresh produce, bottled water, beer, wine, liquor, household essentials, and pharmacy items.

Guests staying inside Tulum Country Club (Anah Village or TAO Residences): The most convenient option is El Mercadito, located right inside Tulum Country Club. It's perfect for picking up groceries, snacks, drinks, fresh bread, coffee, and everyday essentials without leaving the community.

If you're arriving from Tulum Airport or spending time in Tulum before check-in, you can also stop at Chedraui Tulum or Super Aki Tulum to stock up before heading to your vacation rental.

Getting to Akumal & getting around

Getting to Akumal

Most PPIM Vacation Rentals guests arrive through Cancún International Airport (CUN) or Tulum International Airport (TQO). Akumal is approximately 75–90 minutes from Cancún Airport and 45–60 minutes from Tulum Airport, depending on traffic.

For the best vacation experience, we strongly recommend renting a car.

Having your own vehicle allows you to easily explore Akumal, Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, beautiful beaches, cenotes, restaurants, golf courses, and local attractions on your own schedule.

Guests staying at Santamar by TAO should especially consider renting a car, as there is only one restaurant within walking distance. A rental car makes it much easier to reach grocery stores, beaches, and our favorite local restaurants.

Private airport transfers

If you prefer not to drive, private airport transportation is an excellent alternative. We can help arrange comfortable transportation directly from either Cancún or Tulum Airport to your vacation rental.

Getting around during your stay

Guests staying inside Tulum Country Club will enjoy several restaurants, the PGA Riviera Maya Golf Course, beach club access, and El Mercadito grocery store within the community. However, we still recommend having a rental car if you plan to explore the Riviera Maya beyond the resort.
